I don't know if MBGRG members are aware of the Scottish War Graves Project?
http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/
Some headstones in some Moray cemeteries have been recorded on this forum and it may be of interest to some of you in the MBGRG
We also have a companion site, the Scottish War Memorial Project
http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/
which has recorded over 2000 war memorials throughout Scotland including 47 out of Moray's 51 civic war memorials.

Kind Regards

I would like to recommend Foxit Reader to fellow members as an alternative to Adobe Reader. It’s also free but slimmer and faster than Adobe. I have found it reliable and a couple of my friends and colleagues are also now using it as their PDF reader of choice. See link below.

Best regards.

Webmaster comments   Many thanks for that John - I have tried it myself now, and seems an excellent alternative.

Carole Innes |
Great website. I will be mentioning it in the Innes Clan Society's newsletter. Is Bruce Bishop still part of the Group?

Webmaster comments   Thanks Carole. Yes - Bruce is very much involved. See the website 'Contact Us' page should you wish to get in touch.

I hope your organisation realises how valuable your work is to those of us on the other side of the world! I am anxious for the Elgin records: I had always been told that my Baddon ancestors were from Elgin but I am now thinking that it may be Drainie. Not knowing the area at all - is it possible for them to be both?

Webmaster comments   Kerry - Will contact you privately re your message.

New 'Google Map' added to the website to help users locate churchyards, cemeteries etc that have been or are being researched by the Group and to give you a little more information to help with your Moray research. Any constructive comments via the Guestbook always welcome, either public or private. Your feedback helps to improve this website resource. Thanks.

Great web-site. Just started researching my (McIntosh) family history and as most of my direct family come from around Moray, this has been very helpful. I look forward to my planned graveyard tour in May. Keep up the good work.

Best Wishes, Ian Mackintosh

Many thanks for a really enjoyable evening reading through your Newsletters. I went to Elgin Cathedral for the first time today and wanted to find out more about the worthies buried there. My son lives in Burghead and we have seen the small graveyard there and wondered about it's origins. Your work contributes so much to the social history of the area

Robert Stewart |
My ancestor, Robert Stewart, was buried in Dallas around 1850. His wife Annie (nee Grigor) was also buried there. Be interested if anyone has come across them in the graveyard.
At our last visit to Dallas in 2007 we could not find a grave, however, we understand you have uncovered some buried stones. Was this one amongst them ?

Webmaster comments   No record of these in recently published MI's for Dallas. Some 30 buried stones have been located at Dallas, but not due for de-turfing and recording till ca June 2008.
