A great website - very helpful to researchers outside of Scotland and the UK. I was lucky enough to find a reference to two of my ancestors buried in the Urquhart Old Burial Ground - John Reid and Jane Geddie (stone 217). Many thanks to the volunteers whose hard work is very much appreciated!

A NEW SEARCH FACILITY has been added to the site to allow you to search the Ancestor Indices, using only the first few letters of your ancestors surname or maiden surname.
If you find a likely ancestor, you can see in which churchyard they are recorded, and query the database to retrieve all names recorded on that particular tombstone.
Click on the 'Ancestor Indices' button on the home page to give it a try - good luck!

My father John Edwards and grandfather came from Lossiemouth. I have still got my fathers cousins etc and family in the town, so the Edwards name lives on in the town. Im from Peterhead originally.

Some 4,040 new names have been added to the Ancestor Photo/MI index, covering Bellie Churchyard, the 1920 Extension, and Bellie Cemetery. The full data is also now available as a publication.
Good luck with your research.

Our ancestor was Rev John Scott of Dipple, in 1700. He was buried at Dipple in June 1726. I welcome contact regarding this family line.

Webmaster comments   This appear to be the John Scott commemorated on stone number 118a at Dipple Churchyard. Should you wish to purchase full MI transcript and photographs contact the Chairman directly, with your contact details.

I am trying to find the burial site of my g.g grandfather Alexander Anderson. He died in 1940 in Lossiemouth and the papers said he was burried at the old cemetery. He was Provost of Lossiemouth in the 1920s. Can anyone help
